The problem is that as far as I can see Kal's argument amounts to one of these: 1. If a member of a minority group regards a statement like Corbyn's as racist, they are automatically right; it is impossible for them to misinterpret the statement (because the intentions of the author are irrelevant, only the feelings of a group member). OR 2. It is possible for minority groups to misinterpret statements like Corbyn's, but it is "incredibly damaging and problematic" to ever point it out. ... and I just don't agree with either of them. |
