So this David Cameron Greensill Capital scandal I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it. He met with Hancock to discuss a new payment method for NHS staff. BBC reported that it allowed staff to be paid early for hours they had already worked, it went on to be used by some NHS trusts. They also reported that Cameron helped to convince the UK government to set up a supply chain finance scheme for pharmacies - paying them early for money they were owed by the NHS. I have no idea why these services are even needed!? Since when does the NHS not pay it's bills on time or its wages? I'm sure being paid early is nice flexibly to have, but if staff really did require it I'm sure it could be done in house. Did they essentially move public money into the private sector so they could bet on it, are these services classes as government backed loans? Also what did they charge the trust's for the payment method on wages? Who covers the fee for early payment to the pharmacies? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-56578838 https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-56706619 |
