When you download the upgrade from the prompt in the game main menu, instead of a patch it adds a separate "series" version of the game to your library, effectively asking you to download the game again.

When you launch this new version, there's no mention of gamepass or those gamepass watermarks when playing it... So while I'm not 100%, it does seem like it does give you the full upgraded game for Ł7.
