Similar, except I played it before reading about it. Usual extreme reactions you get on the net about absolutely anything.

Not saying it’s great mind, it had that thoroughly mid tier repetitive action slasher feel about it and I wouldn’t pay a penny for it on the basis of what I played.

I seem to recall the old BG Dark Alliance got mostly panned originally. Chiefly from the PC crowd (me!) who (probably unfairly) bemoaned its simplicity compared with BG rpg’s. Then it gathered frankly over the top worship based on it being a decent couch co-op game when there were very few, and barely any competition apart from Champions of Norrath and single player Diablo 1 on PS1.
