@SweetMrGibs Yeah very nicely put and it's just dawned on me that's exactly what I'm missing.

My son went to Uni a couple of years back. We lived and breathed films from him being a toddler. That spark you see in their eyes is breathtaking, even through films like the PT.

TLJ was the last SW film we saw together and we spent two hours ripping it apart after!

Looking forward to watching Ad Astra with him when he comes home for Christmas.
It's definitely a bonding experience, and a passing of the torch too in a way.

I guess it's why I get so defensive about the films. I can see the issues they have, but when I see my kid getting invested in the same thing I was at their age, it just makes these arguments seem so petty. And they're not petty for us in the forum, I just think that when you get in the cinema, try and switch off.

There was one guy in front who sneered when Rey was using the Force to hold back the transport on the desert planet. But later on he cheered when Wedge made a brief appearance. And then he clapped at the end. To me, that's cool. He was cynical at the start, but then let it go. Let's face it, life outside can be pretty grim (e.g. Brexit) so for me, picking apart one of the few forms of escapism we have seems silly. But that's just me opinion.
