I'm only 2 pieces away from completing the art museum. I think it must help to have 4 characters on your island. I mostly get 1-3 real pieces at a time. Only ever had all 4 being fake once.

I used to regularly buy all 4 pieces, real or fake. I've stopped doing that now though as my island is chock full of artwork. It also helps to visit other peoples islands when Redd visits them to see if he has something you're missing.
