    I'm not defending the government's handling of this crisis here because I am of the opinion that they've well and truly bungled it.

    But there is more credit to reducing restrictions than simply ramping up the economy:

    1.) Mental health is the real crisis here. Anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, etc has shot through the roof.
    2.) There is a critical backlog of people who require non-Covid related treatment.

    In a vaccine-world, hospitalisations are the true metric here. Not cases. The cost of staying closed/restricted is increasing every day.
