I have a theory and it may just be because I watched way too much 'Yes Minister' back in the day (tin foil hats at the ready). Matt Hancock was thrown under the bus. As health minister, he was, at least towards the end, very cautious when it came to unlocking. Faced with this obstacle, No.10, or Boris, decided change was in order. So footage was leaked. No.10 briefed that Hancock had support, 'matter was closed.' Privately, Hancock was told he had time to do the 'honourable' thing and that, in time, there was a route back into government. Javid comes in, Boris has a health minister that agrees with the narrative of unlocking, the government is a united front again and we find ourselves in the situation we have today. Just a theory mind. |
