I've just bought a laptop for my dear old mother and had pretty much the same requirements as you.|
In the end I went for this
It was £380 at the time but seems to have crept up to £400 now (including VAT). Anyway its a nicely built bit of kit (for any money) and is definetly worth considering. Plus points are the nice case, good display and a solid feel to it. The downsides are the 256 MB of RAM, which is enough to do the basics but for £25 its daft not to double it up. Also the battery life of 3 hours ain't the best, but reading round on budget laptops this seems common.
Edit: Damned tricksy linky things
