edit: 3400G board and RAM bundle ordered along with new PSU.

    As per title.

My dad is in his 70s and very active. His current desktop PC has died, it was my brother's old bulldozer based gaming rig, for the last 6 months it's been black screening and self rebooting, despite changing the scheduling for updates it's still been turning itself on at around 11pm every night. Today we can't get it to boot at all, something I've been expecting for months.

My dad's not gaming but largely using Office for his business paperwork, editing photos and occasionally watching TV streaming services.

Naturally whatever I'm going to build for him is going to have a decent trusted PSU and I'd like a motherboard that I can trust. There's no need to worry about a particularly potent GPU option unless it will be of benefit with photo editing. We're happy to start anew with a fresh case and other components as necessary but if I can carry on using the old case that helps keep the cost down. The case is a standard size so most board options are going to be fine.

Any advice is welcome. I'm thinking of a budget of up to around £400, my mum was offering up to £800 but that's surely going to be overkill. Obviously if I can get sufficient components under £400 then that'll be a help too.

edit: Ah yes, I forgot the RAM won't be compatible, post now edited.
