It's clearly a massive screw-up on the US's part, and I'm starting to doubt whether Biden will actually weather the storm, but if the idea was to leave a fully capable and self-sustaining Afghan military - how would that not have been possible without leave billions of dollars worth of tech behind?

It's not like it was all loaded into a warehouse at the airport and the US military just went "...nah" and legged it.
