    I've done this but only in one room. We soundproofed two of the alcoves in our living room - it's the only room in the house (other than the garden, if you can call that a room) where we can hear our neighbour. He has no indoor voice. This would not be an issue if I didn't hate him for other unrelated issues.

    In any case, it didn't really work - sound just finds another path of less resistance. In this case, I think his voice travels through the (hollow) chimney breast. I'm learning to live with it, plus strategically deploying my own noise (black metal) (loud) when required.
