My parents did it too, actually, to isolate the sound from a stomping upstairs neighbour. I think it did the trick for them, by all accounts. Our 'soundproofing' was basically building out the alcove with a frame, inserting glass wool, sheeting with special sound isolating plasterboard and then plastering. It has definitely reduced the sound significantly, but you can still hear some frequencies. |
