I won't be making the leap over to the new forum, but did want to take a moment to thank everyone who posted here. There were 2 or 3 members who really showed a worryingly nasty side to them when they came together in the old days, but everyone else had a great character and often came together to do great things. The forum was never huge, but it was full of personality and for a few short stints, it genuinely genuinely felt great to part of the community.
The non-gaming threads about cancer, house moving, work etc... were actually invaluable to me at times and I never really said thanks to the most helpful and supportive forumites. Quite a number of you are very giving folk and thats always been great to see.
This forum is like no other I have ever been a part of. I can't even remember who pulled me over from Gamespot (of all places), but I am glad to have been even just a small part of the forum. Most other forums are so ridged and full of those snobby-like nerds who hang around CeX, desperate to correct the world with their useless misunderstandings of video games and TV shows. This place was more what I imagine the giant house from Home Alone is like. Plenty of people running about running, screaming and shouting, but equally capable of some amazing coordination and love at times.
I still follow a fair few of you on Twitter and I'm in a couple of discord channels, so I'll probably put those to some use now, but I will just wrap up by saying goodbye to everyone. Some of you have made a big impression on the last 10 years of my life and I am grateful. I wish everyone all the very best and maybe if Eurogamer ever changes its mind on this forum idea, I'll get to see you all again.
Edit - And of course I end my final post with a typo. Dangerous Dove, as Mr Zoo once called me! Haha
Nooooo Dave the new forum needs you. You are one of the people I enjoy reading and our Splatoon sessions |
