Just to say thanks Craigy for the comments here - it’s fascinating to get an insight into what actually goes in behind the scenes in EG and what feeds some of the editorial decisions.
Im surprised that the reviews aren’t more popular - they’re probably the bit I tend to read most on the front page (after digital foundry). I guess we are a long way from the eras when Kristan Reed and Tom Bramwell were editors, where long form reviews and features felt like the heart of the site. That’s not to criticise the current team, but let’s be honest - there’s only so much interest to be found from an article about a Fortnite skin or the regurgitation of a press release… but I can also see how that kind of “news” might drive clicks…
I’m clearly showing my age as I don’t think I’ve ever set out to discuss, we’ll… anything on social media. I’d much rather see and use comments sections within the site that is actually publishing the article.
Anyway, having been reading and on-off posting here since very nearly the beginning, I doubt I’ll be straying too far, but I’ll be sad that the fantastic community here is having to move on.
You not coming to the new place? I've been seeing your use I'd pop up for 14 years ha. I'm sure I used to see it on the chatterbox section of maybe the guardian too? Maybe it's my age but I appear to be very fond of forums and random opinions |
