I buy edge every month and read it because I'm interested in other aspects of videogames than current releases and reviews/scores. In fact I barely even look at their reviews. Some of the articles on artwork or technology and interviews with comedy writers etc. just aren't available anywhere else. And are far deeper and more interesting to me than whether generic platformer no. 1023 has a good control system for the camera. For me edge is a magazine I can keep and put on the bookshelf, but when I buy games tm I'll bin it after a month because the moment has passed. Edge claims to discuss "videogame culture" rather than just videogames. It all depends on what you like to read about really doesn't it? |
