    @simpleexplodingmaybe if you’re trying to keep costs down the Nike outlet stores will do an half decent pair of dedicated runners for £40ish. They won’t last forever or might not be best suited to your running style/technique but will be better than what you’ve been using and will keep you active.

    If you then decide to seriously push on with your running, I’d definitely recommend visiting your local running shop for a proper fitting. You’d still be able to pick up last seasons models of a good quality shoe for c.£70. My eldest son runs 5k in 18 mins and does the occasional half marathon and I managed to get him a good all round shoe (last years Mizuno Waverider) for about £60.
