I see. DS is probably the simplest introduction to controls. Minimal pad buttons. Perhaps something like Tetris? I never played anything on the Xbox until the 360 came out, as I didn't enjoy the old controller at all, too big and over-complicated. Cube was really simple and a great introduction to gaming in my experience. Nice chunky shoulder buttons.

The DS also affords you the privacy to completely stuff up without anyone seeing :) A basic driving game seems a good entry-level game.

Edit: Of course, the Wii! How could I forget. I can't imagine anyone feeling cackhanded with that.
