And how are they going to employ 1 billion + people, feed them, house them, while at the same spending money on a military and R&D. If they ever dream to become a world power they will have to do all that. Also, they have the problem of a rapidly increasing population, if you think they are starving now well its only going to get worse in the future, since thier population is estimated to reach 2 billion by 2050 and 4 billion by 2100,[if its even humanly possible to fit 2 or 4billion people in a country of that size] so thats more people to feed and house and less to spend on a military and r&d...

me thinks implementing 1 child laws would do india wonders in the long run.
