You might want to head over to www.boardgamegeek.com (although your wallet won't thank you for it). We've just voted on the top one hundred solo games, for this past year.

For me, Mage Knight and Arkham Horror - I'd play the first only as a solo game.

AH is pretty complex, but the newer Eldritch Horror, if you don't mind the Lovecraft theme, is a better way into it all. Great at one or two players.

And Alien Legendary is one of the best games in years.
