Finally got around to watching Lion last week and it's great, the young "Saroo" is excellent. It's heartbreaking and overall really quite sombre, I was expecting it to be a little more uplifting.|
The Ritual was good. I agree that it loses it a little in the final third but it didn't ruin the film for me. I thought the characters acted in a believable way and not like they knew they were in a horror film.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer - I liked Dogtooth and really enjoyed The Lobster but my attention was drifting a little here. It's definitely odd, kind of a cross between the Lobster and We need to talk about Kevin. It's not a comedy, or is it?, I'm not sure what to make of it. I did get a few laughs from the deadpan delivery of the dialogue. A couple of times it reminded me of Father Ted, Farrell's accent must have been partly the reason for that. It's good but I didn't find it particularly engaging. 6/10
All on Prime.
