The Dig 7/10 Pleasant movie about the discovery of the Sutton Hoo Anglo Saxon treasure hoard and ship. Was quite interested in finding out how it was found having seen the British Museum exhibit a few times. Ralph Fiennes and Carey Mulligan are both rather good as the leads and there's a decent supporting cast. The Trial of the Chicago 7 8/10 Didn't know anything about this incident going in but found it quite compelling. SBC is quite good and Eddie Redmayne was quite good despite his strange generic american accent Scott Pilgrim Vs The World 6/10 Haven't seen this in a few years and wasn't quite as good as I remember. Main issue is that the main character is a complete dick and unsympathetic. Moneyball 9/10 Really enjoyed this despite not knowing anything about Baseball. Didn't realise it was 10 years old until Phillip Seymour Hoffman's appearance. Chris Pratt was also quite young looking too. Its a very interesting take on stats based analysis being used for recruiting players on the cheap and before they hit the big time. I would say it can't catch on in the premier league but apparently Brentford use a similar approach to player recruitment. |
