Its hit and miss. I have had no problems with them bit know others that have.† I'd still recommend them though due to the service I've had.

Sky router thoroughly dead. Replacement costs £71. About to threaten to cancel, to see if they will give one out free. If that fails, will cancel and get girly to sign up with Sky under her name. To anyone that knows, is there something wrong with my cunning plan? Is there something in the small print that will stop her from signing up, as soon as I cancel?

@Vice.Destroyer offer might be one per household. But I'm sure if you act serious enough about quitting they'll replace it.

@RobTheBuilder I get that, but since the missus doesn't have my surname, she may as well be a new tenant. Surely, that is the way to go?

@Vice.Destroyer That might work then, worth a try!

So the parents have a Sky non wifi router, I assume Sky will provide a wifi one after a quick phone call at no charge?

    Anyone on sky's fibre packages?

We've had their bog-standard broadband for a few years with no complaints, but fibre has now (finally) arrived in our town. Our exchange is a sky LLU, so i figure we'd be as well stick with them, but maybe infinity is the better option?

You should be able to get a Sky fibre package, the only major difference between the two is that in some locations you can get up to 300/20Mb on BT and they offer BT Sport for free if you're interested in that.

Might be cheaper to stick with Sky if you aren't too fussed about the faster speeds (if available in your area).

I'm sure there's a more relevant thread to pick up than this but you know the search function...

So i'm with Virgin at the moment and would stick with them but the area we're moving to they don't currently supply. Trying to read reviews on t'webs is a fucking horrific experience so looking for some good old fashioned random opinions from people who should know these things.

Who's the best of the rest? Sky, BT, TalkTalk, Plusnet seem to supply the place and offer decent speeds...

My wonderful pc game stealing mortgage advisor recommends BT so they have the early lead.

Was with sky, they were ok, but the router was shit for wifi. They may have a better one now though.

Moved to bt and their router is much better. Very happy with them. I believe customer service can be interesting, but I have had no problems and can't complain.

I'm with sky at the minute and want to move over to virgin. I can't even tell you how many times a week the internet is cutting off or slowing to a crawl. Its infuriating.

Thanks for the opinions, my dad was with Sky I don't think he's had any issues with slowdown. I think it's Sky or BT at this stage, play it safe and just hope not to get a customer service nightmare story...
