Based on this thread I think it's something like 5+ years since I quit smoking. I'd love to try and work out exactly when, because I don't have a clue.

Started my road to quitting on Tuesday night. I'm usong a vape to help wean me off, and have an app on my phone that is tracking how much I've saved, etc.

I had a couple of cigarettes yesterday after some bad news, but I have "not smoked 103" according to the app, and saved over £50.
Now compare it with your vape budget for the real savings.

Always found I spent more on that than I did on cigarettes!

Everyone is of course different but I went cold turkey after 10 years (about 15 years ago). Not sure it'll help but I did it by...

    1) Thinking about how I felt later about having had a cigarette - how disappointed with myself I was - every time I wanted a one. I'm using this now to stop myself drinking too much.
    2) Constantly carrying a bottle of water. Something for my hands to hold on to, and sipped from it every time I had a craving.

Can't you just switch out the fags for vaping? It looks cool and is definitely good for you

All those hours spent stood outside smoking could be used to built a sweet vaping rig that looks like a kind of steampunk dildo

I didn't choose the vape life, the vape life chose me.

Vaping is definitely good for you? Should nonsmokers or nonvapers start?

All the best SmoothPete, hope you manage to crack it!

Everyone should vape. We know for sure that the vape 'oils' are full of healthy essential vitamins, unicorn tears and free radicals

I went cold turkey and have now been smoke free for 12 years. Had many failed attempts to quit before that though.

7 years for me. Though I've had a couple when I've been pissed recently. They were fucking delicious.

So it's not been 7 years then, you massive lying bastard.

On a serious note, 7 years is also great going :)

Six years in January I think. Or is it five?

Apparently I smoked a loads when I was arseholed a couple of months back, but I'm sure I'd remember that.

I think my mate is just a lying, jealous fuckstrumpet because he continually fails to give up.

Quit smoking in 2012, moved to south East Asia in 2014 and had a relapse because of the dirt cheap prices, but kicked it early 2016. I really don't miss it at all, having cancer definitely put an end to it anyway.

I tried really bloody hard for what must have been a year, but couldnít get into it. All my friends got the habit really easily but I just couldnít for some reason. Ended up giving most of my packs away to school mates on the ponce and decided one day that Iíd rather spend my money on N64 games. Havenít smoked in about 20 years now

I knew I had to quit the cigars when I ran out and smoked a few of my mums Bensons, they were soooo good. Which is bad.

@smoothpete Good luck! I've been off cigs and weed for 7 years now. 8 occasionally think of lighting up especially after a stressful day, but it's over quickly especially the price of then now.

Oh yeah, the price of cigarettes here is definitely a big factor of why I don't smoke anymore.
