if you want "Some textures go white and the demos option in the main menu is gone. Generally slow and stuttering framerate with significant slowdown in co-op."
  • Deleted user 24 December 2008 19:16:58
Sigh. Fine. Fuck it then. I just won't play it!

I'd have exactly the same VGA problem with that though right?

    Well, yes.

But then you should hang your head in shame if you don't have an Xbox (softmodded with the excellent XBMC + some emulators) under your telly.

In fact, you'd be worse than Kitler. FACT

Looks like Xbox Originals are getting achievements next year.

We all know how IMPORTANT gamerpoints are. I'm actually considering getting the cut-price Halo now.

Hang on, my game list already lists Halo 1 as having 0 of 0 achievements - the disk based version that is, so that screenshot surely isn't being used as proof?

I know, the screenshot is a bit baffling.

They state the achievement screen is due to testing. Probably a bit like the new BoP achievements, I guess.

IMHO, as a single player game, Halo 1 was the best in the series. This assumes you play it on the hard difficulty setting. On the easier settings, 2 or 3 are probably more fun to run through quickly.

    Controversial.

Not controversial at all. Halo vastly superior to the disappointing sequels.

True. Well, apart from Halo 3, which is clearly the best of the lot.

You mean better than Halo 2 but not even on the same planet as Halo, of course.

    Anyway...

Anyone downloaded Dreamfall yet? Does that display at 60Hz?
  • Deleted user 30 December 2008 12:40:52
Is Dreamfall any good while we're on the subject?

I downloaded Jade Empire just before Xmas and I was considering getting Dreamfall as well since I have the points to spare, but I'm still a bit undecided.

Halo 3 got the multiplayer right but Halo 1 has the best single player campaign of the lot. I liked that Halo 2 had a much more involved story but I dislike that Halo 3 decided to go back to the original storytelling style, which would have been fine if they didn't have to follow Halo 2, so it just seemed like it was ignoring everything or not making a big enough deal about other stuff.
  • Deleted user 30 December 2008 12:48:44
Ah screw it, I decided to download Dreamfall.

It was the best single player campaign when I completed it last week on Originals, or last year on the PC. Halo 3 has too many vehicle sections, is short and has Cortana, which is the worst level in any halo game.
  • Deleted user 30 December 2008 13:26:54
Halo 3's single-player campaign sucked. Crumply vehicles (damage=more realistic=annoying) and unsatisfying weapons conspire to ruin the fun somewhat. It has also disappeared up its own arse.

Other annoyances include Cortana prattling on (cannot be skipped for fucks sake!) and that fucking Gravemind thing. O_o

Halo stopped being good when Bungie focused on the online, which to be fair, is hugely popular.

    Anyway, about Dreamfall...

This displays at 60Hz when running in 1360x768 via HDMI, so I'm guessing it should be fine over VGA. The game is also widescreen. Unfortunately the graphics are incredibly jaggy, it almost looks like a Saturn game at times. Still, it seems quite interesting!

The gravemind/cortana things can't be skipped because they are there to hide lvl loads.

At the times I originally played them I enjoyed Halo 1 far more (campaign).

Walking along the artic levels, exploring the towers and battling wraiths was so memorable, not to mention the amount of free form mucking about to be had with the physics. Probably a bit rose tinted, and I did love Halo 3's campaign, but Halo 1 was just such an excellent experience.

Soft-modding is for pussies. Hard-moddin' is where the fun is at.
