This (as with other maintenance windows from Sony) came right out of the blue. The earliest warning I got was from the EU Playstation Blog, but it was still very sudden.
I would just advise keeping up with the Playstation Blog sites to see when the next bout will hit.
As for the link, I thought it would be better if there was a single thread for these types of outages but obviously some people don't see it using certain forum styles

@MadCaddy13 yes mate, same here.
If you go to your network settings you can check the status of PSN on there, it's says issues with online gaming.
