August 3:
“Total effort needed. Tomorrow is the big day. Unfortunately I talked to my neighbor today, who is very positive and upbeat. I need to remain focused and absorbed COMPLETELY.
“Last time I tried this, in January, I chickened out.”
George Sodini says the reason for his diary is that “maybe all this will shed insight on why some people just cannot make things happen in their life, which can potentially benefit others.”
“Maybe soon, I will see God and Jesus. At least that is what I was told. Eternal life does NOT depend on works. If it did, we will all be in hell.
“I was reading the Bible and The Integrity of God beginning yesterday, because soon I will see them.”
He was even in Santa Monica, photographing Ocean Avenue at Wilshire Boulevard. George Sodini calls his mother “Central Boss”:
“Don’t piss her off or she will be mad and vindictive for years. “
On Monday Sodini finally writes the following:
“The biggest problem of all is not having relationships or friends, but not being able to achieve and acquire what I desire in those or many other areas.
“Everything stays the same regardless of the effert (sic) I put in. If I had control over my life then I would be happier. But for about the past 30 years, I have not.”
this is why guns are bad, m'kay. It's a lot harder to be "in control" with a knife. -

He didn't have sex for 20 of your mortal earth years. Any man put in his position would want to kill something.
As jerry sadovich once put it so woman could understand a mans sexual needs. "For a man having sex is like bursting for a piss and having to negotiate with a toilet" -

Registered 20 years agoKinda puts paid to the ntion that an armed population will quickly stop a killing spree with their own weapons.
I have a nasty feeling the effects of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the lack of care for brain and mental trauma will eclipse the shame felt over the treatment of Vietnam vets. -

Well I'd argue you are wrong there, because the now more confirmed reports than the initial ones are saying the first gunman was killed within seconds of opening fire by base security, there seems to be a second set of gunmen involved with no info on exactly what has happened to them. Another factor here is that it looks likely those involved have knowledge of the base, so not a fair comparison for what an armed population can do to effect this type of crime.
Fact is that if a gunman goes shooting in a shopping mall in the USA there is a good chance someone there has a weapon and could use it. In the UK there is next to no chance, and the first people on scene with any kind of weapon of any use will have to be specialist officers, of which there is a limited number.
Fact is we already have an armed population in the UK, they're largely made up of the people who do not hold any respect for the law and obtained the weapons illegally, and who will use them for motives other than defence. Not quite sure why any sane person would argue against legal gun ownership given the number of illegal gun owners in the UK. -

Was just about to post something similar. Muslim convert kills American soldiers, the media has a hard on already. -

Well, as the base is near Waco, first thing I thought was it might have been done by those crazy anti-illuminati/new world order people wanting revenge on Ruby Ridge. But on the radio just now, someone was on talking about how constant service in Iraq and Afghanistan effects a soldier's mental state, and how the pressures of war drive people over the edge. -

Actually, seems so far to be one shooter, who managed to shoot 43 people before being shot himself.
Of course, it's a developing story, so we will have to see what information is released. No doubt base command has gone into full cover-your-ass mode. -

Registered 20 years agoWell that does ignore the developing nations which put the US to shame. It also ignores that there are other countries which have gun ownership which don't approach the US' gun homicide rate. Obviously there is more at play in the US than just the ownership of guns. -
EverAfter must live in constant fear of that massive gun owning population. You see them all the time, hanging out on street corners waving their Uzi's, firing wildly into the air in celebration. It's awful. What we need is for every man, woman and child to be given a gun. That'll cut down on gun crime for sure.
