Due to the Australian government's inaction on climate change, an increasing number of mostly young people have been organising protests in Brisbane's CBD.

This Brisbane Times article sums up the official response:

Do bear in mind that many people here read Murdoch trash like the Courier Mail and that the Brisbane Times is depressingly centrist, relatively speaking.

    https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/climate-change-activists-to-grind-brisbane-to-a-halt-on-rebellion-day-20190805-p52e2h.html

"It is appalling that extremists, many of whom we understand have come from other parts of the country, are holding the people of Brisbane to ransom.

I am particularly disappointed that the Greens councillor is continuing to support these extremists.

"The rights of the community who want to get to work, their children to school, to doctorsí appointments or to connect with family and friends should not be trampled.

"We support the democratic right for people to have their say but extremists holding the public to ransom is not the way to do it."

Shockingly to no one, the Queensland Premier (Anastacia Palaszczuk) who rushed through the approval process for Adani's controversial coal mine during the elections (which, hilariously, backfired), stated that "she did not think the community wanted the demonstrations to happen" and that the protesters need a "reality check".

Don't read the comments under the article BTW, or else you might come to the conclusion that we're fucked as a civilisation and even perhaps as a species.

Just can't get over this Tate Modern story at all. Probably just a consequence of getting older or having children myself, but the thought of something like that happening to them fills me with dread.

Can we get Gwyneth Paltrow closed down under some kind of public health law?
It seems to be a regular feature in stories about some bizarre alternative treatment, that they've been promoted on her website.

I believe she gets round it by saying that these aren't recommendations, they're just having a discussion about things they like. It's the same reason that Fox News does when defending itself from accusations of racism by claiming they're just having a discussion they're not endorsing.

GP isn't the only snake oil salesman around, but she's probably the most influential one. She might even be worse than Oprah was.

Oprah was right about those penises though. I was violated by over 9000 of them.

Some pretty small minded views in here to be honest. I've been steaming my vaginas for years now and I've had some pretty breathtaking results.

In much the same way as the right wing press she (or other people involved with Goop) realise that any sort of criticism around their hokum witchcraft simply circles the wagons of idiots closer

    I believe its been decorated.

There's a few on there the likes of which I've never seen. The splayed one on the 3rd row for instance. There's also one on the 2nd row that appears to be eating itself.
