    https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/aug/08/trump-authorizes-cyanide-bombs-wildlife-services

Apparently, the US Agriculture Dept has been planting literal cyanide landmines in the wild (each sufficient to kill a bear, not to mention a human adult), and if that weren't enough, until very recently (before the death of a dog and near-death of a teen), its agents were placing the lethal traps less than 30m from public roads and paths.

    What the actual duck

The US is one fucked up polity. Why anyone would actually want to live there is beyond my comprehension.

Youcef Zatat - who had not travelled to Poland - was included in the quartet instead of sprinter Rabah Yousif.
UK Athletics performance director Neil Black blamed a "technical error".
Odds on Neil Black being a gammon? All Youssefs look the same.

    https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/man-dies-after-brutal-assault-16738431

Happened around the corner from mine.

Guy came in a while ago, gets a bit grabby with a woman. says he has a knife. They ask him to leave which he does. He hasnt been out of jail that long for attacking someone with a hammer and is well known.

Days later hes in again.. has a knife... wants the landlord. They tell him to leave hes barred. He leaves promising to kill the landlord his wife and child and burn the pub down.
( another pub nearby was burnt down not long ago so would cause some concern you would think)

They contact the police... nothing seems to happen.

He comes back yesterday at 3pm.. knife in hand and stabs the landlord 12 times in the carpark in front of families and kids then runs off home attacking someone else with a hammer before hes arrested around the corner in his undies with his wife arrested too presumably for helping him strip and wash his clothes I'm guessing ?

Worrying that if someone is recently out of jail.. has a knife.. makes threats and you phone the police... you'd hope more would happen than just seemingly just a word with him I guess ?

So the government has come up with a great initiative to help combat knife crime that definitely isn't stereotyping... by sticking #knifefree on fried chicken boxes.

It's a difficult process. Do you grant automatic asylum to individuals if the claim they are gay?

The asylum system has a lot of problems with sham marriages and fake colleges. Feigning homosexuality is a lot simpler and cheaper path to a visa than either of those routes.

The arguement is that they would be targeted in public and at risk of harm. So being overly camp or effeminate in public surely increases the risk of being targeted?

To be honest, I'd be happy to grant anyone requesting asylum a place given how far they've had to travel (and what they've gone through) to make it happen... but I'm a filthy liberal.

Well, I'm a filthy liberal too and err on the side of letting more people in, but I also think the process should probably be a bit more stringent than just accepting anyone who says they're a refugee. Their claims should be tested and such (as they already are).
