Registered 15 years agoAnd YouTube is, basically, a TV channel. My daughter probably also watches it for 8 hours a week but her tally for watching anything else is approximately zero.

Registered 3 years agoI reckon a good 90% of my TV watching is YouTube. And I'm really old -

Registered 18 years agoMy kids probably watch 3 or 4 hours a week, but do watch a shit load of Netflix. -
I'm pretty strict over internet usage with my kids, but they can access YouTube. I've told them the dangers of the net and I also don't let them use screens too much before bed etc, but as long as they are sensible with it (the pair of them watching a video on a single iPod wasn't all that sensible when they have tablets) then I'm okay with it. Social media I don't allow and only one has a phone and that's only recently because they now need one.
There is a lot of peer pressure to be on social media and have a phone and it does appear that a fair bit of bullying and arguing happens between the kids when they do get on social media. At least that's happened with the kids we know.
Anyway, I'm a grumpy old man and I've woken up with a migraine so I'm allowed to be right now.
My kids seem happy which is the main thing. -

Registered 3 years agoYour kids will be the first generation to have not known a time before the internet and social media, which will mean they will be able to teach us about how to interact as a species in this new way.
Such as Gen Z teach us (well, my nephew teaches me anyway) about gender from their perspectives.

Registered 15 years agoI’m actually impressed that there’s that much for her to watch. We are strict about the channels she can watch and they are always pumping out fairly decent quality content.
My mrs is an editor and, basically, gets hired consistently because she’s one of the fastest in the business and even then it takes her about an hour to produce one minute of video. These guys must be on it all day, everyday. -

The boy watches DanTDM and Unspeakable almost exclusively, with the likes of Sis Vs Bro thankfully now discarded (although the Aussie equivalent still gets an airing occasionally). It irks me some that these idiots earn so much, but as you say, they clearly put the hours in. I am definitely old, i cannot see the attraction at all.

Registered 15 years agoMy eldest was watching this channel where some kid “reviews” toys, from what I could tell the parents just chucked endless toys at him and filmed him fucking around with them like a little cunt. I had to put a stop to that as she started acting like the little shit. Now it’s all about the Haschak Sisters -

Registered 17 years agoThe last time I was in LA there was a mom with a couple of kids recording something for a Youtube channel. The poor kids had to keep doing retakes until she was happy. -
