I'm sure if he'd just dumped some gold francs with a very high mercury content on the counter everything would have been fine.

@TechnoHippy I might be completely imagining this, but I think I remember reading that farts are quite possibly a potent COVID-19 vector...

    Insanity. Billions.

It highlights just how brazenly huge fraud is perpetrated in "respectable" organizations.

You wonder how much occurs that isn't detected.

It also raises the question about the big accountancy firms again who audited the books and declared them to be all in order.

I've worked with a couple of the big four before, albeit their consultancy sides rather than the audit side - and they were fucking terrible. Their names carry a lot of weight, but a lot of the actual work seems to be carried out by low-level drones with no appreciable training. I actually got to sack one of them from a contract once, which was fun. In an attempt to keep our business, they invited us along to a meeting at their lavish HQ and threw the full corporate hospitality spread at us (no, it doesn't extend to cocaine and hookers).

All that did was make us think "oh, so that's where our money's going" and then double down on sacking them.

I was involved with a safety audit carried out by Rice Slaughterhouse Pooper once following a majorish incident.

It was basically written to order with the head of safety of the offending organisation indicating what he wanted it to say and what recommendations they were happy to pay to implement.

It was bullshit from start to finish, and it offends me that companies of that ilk can charge the money they do with no real oversight. Even the agency I used to work for who realised the audit was bullshit didn't make anything of it, and they could have.
