Civ 5, reading the EG review I'm not sure.

Starcraft sounds like it may just be a bit too quick for him, he is getting on a bit :-)
He plays a fair bit of total war, in various incarnations, do you think he could cope with Starcraft, sounds pretty hardcore.

There's plenty of decent strategy games on Steam, and if he's played the most recent Total War games (Empire and Napoleon), then he'll have a Steam account anyhoo (as they're both Steamworks titles).

You could try Men of War, Order of War, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II, World in Conflict or Company of Heroes. All good games.

Or, if he'd prefer RPG-type games then there's The Witcher, Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol and any more (just browse the store online).

If he likes flight-sim-type games, Wings of Prey is really good (but, the Steam version (and all versions, I think) have StarForce DRM with 3 activations - so take that into account).

Definitely not into flightsims or racing.

sexy beach :) I'll let him get his own soft porn kicks.

He's a steam man but I was looking for something a bit more interesting than yet another rts.

    cheers for the suggestions.

    Okay, then.

    Batman: Arkham Asylum.

It's a brilliant game. One of the top games of 2000-09. It looks great on the PC. It's one of the few "console-to-PC" ports where the developers went all-out to make it look much prettier than the 360/PS3 versions.

If he doesn't already have it, that is...
