Following on from the BRITS discussion, I'd love to see what the last album EG regulars actually bought was. Let's at least try not to turn this thread into another "out-obscure-o-matic" pissing contest, just tell us what the last album was that you paid for (in a shop or online retail - doesn't matter...)

Me : Donnie Darko soundtrack from PLAY for 8 quid

    The Darkness (for the missus).
And Simon and Garfunkel (The Essentials...or something).

Also just go White Stripes at work.

    Edit: Morning All!

Lost Prophet's last album. It's okay, but it's no A Crow Left Of The Murder, which you should all go out and buy. Right now.

Snow Patrol - The Final Straw. 7/10. Saw them supporting Athlete 2 weeks ago which pushed the LP purchase.

Guess I'm not a regular yet, but the last abums I bought were:
    * Blood Has Been Shed - "Spirals"
    and
    * Lamb Of God - "As The Palaces Burns".

Shame on you for jumping on the Lostprophets bandwagon! Still, you've redeemed yourself by outing as an Incubus fan... I like A Crow Left Of The Murder myself, but it's still not quite as good as Make Yourself. Much better than the fey Morning View at least. Back on topic, the last album I bought was probably Ashes by The Prophecy, although I did grab the first three Lamb albums for around £5 each recently as well.

Woo! How good is the new Lamb Of God album? Fucking good I tells ya! Best. US. Death. Metal. EVAR. Beats the last Morbid Angel album into a jauntily-angled hat.

Last albums I bought were a load of Vini Reilly/Duritti Column CDs to replace tape/vinyl - not at all obscure if you are a music lover or have any taste. Best of the lot 'Obey the time' a blend of Vini's usual guitar, apparently 'avant garde jazz classical' and 89-91 Manchester electro.

All bought from action-records for a total of £50ish including P&P.

Um the Bon Jovi greatest hits with a twist - i think it's called this right looks left or something. And the new muse album. Have no idea what that's called!

I was almost thinking the same thing, but repeated listens don't hold up as well as Make Yourself. It's perhaps a little too wacky for it's own good in places, lacking the focus of Make Yourself. Just an opinion mind!

Wouldn't really say Lamb Of God is death metal like Morbid Angel, way more "thrashy". But the albums rocks hard!
Get "New American Gospel" too, if you don't already have it.

I can see what you mean, but I kinda like that wackiness! :-)
Really miss that in their latest albums, it's like a "restrained" Incubus...

It's still death to me; more Scando-death than Morbid Angel "paint scraping" death metal. And I do also have New American Gospel... ^^

Incidently, have you checked out any US black metal recently? I've got into some Nachtmystium recently; very old-school, almost early Darkthrone-meets-Mayhem. Certainly on the up at the moment, but not quite as varied as the UK black metal scene imho.

I didn't even know a LP bandwagon existed! :p The album was recommended by a friend. /shrug

And the more I listen to ACLOTM, the more I like it. It's an unbelievable album - much more off-the-wall and SCIENCE-like than their previous two, IMO. Sick Sad World and Zee Deveel are just stunning pieces of music.

Rebought Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream as my last copy was scratched beyond redemption.
If we are looking at original purchases - Foo Fighters - One by One (but that was over 6 months ago).
Seems that there isnt much intersting stuff coming out for me right now.

I do that the whole time, I have yet to listen to half of the CD's that make up my dismal CD Collections.

    Edit: Stupid typos.

I finally got round to buying Lemon Jelly's "Lost Horizons" and Electric Soft Parade's excellent album "Holes In The Wall". Has anyone heard the second ESP album "American Adventure" yet?

Also bought Kings Of Leon "Youth and young manhood". It kicks ass.
