I dimly remember playing this game back when it came out, and with the film collector's edition on its way to me, I felt like revisiting it again ó which is probably a bad idea, but we'll see.

Obtaining it seems to be quite difficult, but I have put a bid on the single copy available on eBay and started some piratey-things in the mean-time.

Does anyone remember what Windows version the game works well on, as I'll have to play in a VM anyway?

I played this a couple of years ago just fine on Windows XP. You might need to fire it up in compatibility mode, but it played really well. Hasn't aged at all; it's still an excellent game.

This is a game I wouldn't hesitate to buy again if they just updated the resolution of the backgrounds and of the characters, and sold it at a budget price. I have no idea how easy or how hard it would be to do that, though.

Great game, backgrounds are still pretty good.

What lets this game down today is the characters, they looked bad on release - they look like dog crap now.

    Great game tho.

Don't make the mistake of going into the shooting range, it takes hours to finish.

    Otherwise 10/10, better than halo.

I'm sure there was suppose to be about 13 different endings, I think I saw maybe 3...

To this day I've no idea what effects which ending you receive.

    /Happy with his ignorance.

There are a whole slew of endings about 12 - 15 i think. I've seen 5 of them and if you've played the game more than once you'll have a really good idea as to where the "branches" are.

    Great game indeed.

Going to certain locations/killing/not killing certain characters,

Various stuff like that, I think there were 8 in total.

Edit: 13 ending according to Wikipedia

13 in total. A lot was randomised right from the start of the game (ie whether certain characters were replicants or not), so it's actually impossible to aim for a specific ending.

(somewhere I've got a proper big-box copy of it).

"All you gotta do is ask slim"

That female cop at the beginning of the game. Hot damn. It's still amazing, but as Lou said, playing it these days is like watching the Tetris blocks fall into place. Still oddly beautiful mind.

"Gimme a hard copy of that"

And also that really odd beeping noise that the lift makes. I might just fire it up again. A game made with such obvious care and attention to detail you'd be mad not to admire it.

Works OK on XP but can have problems on certain machines, read the above for workarounds.

Just what turned me off. And the fact that, at the time, it required some stupid amount of HD space to get properly installed.

Think they've said a port to other platforms will never happen as the code has been lost.

I've bought it anyway. Show my support for this being ported at least.
