Registered 16 years agoOh, I loved it, every second of it, gripping stuff. Loads more questions which need answering as usual with Lost. -
Yeah that was pretty good. As ever you come away with not much in the way of new info, but the atmosphere and the tension are what's enjoyable, not the exposition, although I thought the cliffhanger was rubbish. -

I thought the exact same thing, it really was a rubbish end.
OMG, LOOK
A GUY JUST CHUTED ONTO THE ISLAND AND HE KNEW MY NAME
LET'S DRAMATACISE THAT, EVEN THOUGH THEY'D BEEN TALKING OVER THE WALKIE TALKIE FOR THE PAST DAY
-

Registered 15 years agoYeah, I was wondering what cliffhanger they were going on about.
I was going to myself "There was a cliffhanger? I only watched the thing an hour ago. Is my memory fuckin' fucked?" -
It's my understanding that serial TV shows should end with a cliffhanger - an enticingly dramatic ending that makes you want to watch the subsequent week. Pretty much every dramatic serial EVER uses this device. As explained above, this weeks ending of Lost was pretty naff in that it was in no way unexpected. The guy that everyone knew was coming to the island, came to the island. I just would have preferred him to make some kind of dramatic or mysterious revelation rather than just ask Jack if he was Jack, that's all. I don't think it's much to ask!
Other than that, I enjoyed the ep. -

I was hoping it'd be Solid Snake when he removed his mask.
The be honest I felt it was a cliffhanger. I think wasn't at all meant to be but the way the do the old trick of someone says something, reaction shot, and then the BOOM noice with LOST flashing up kinda makes it feel like we are supposed to go "Noooooo! Don't end there!".
Good ep though, I feel a weight is taken off the show now they don't have to do pre-crash flashbacks. -

Registered 18 years agoWell I thought that was great fun, some good creepy moments too especially the guy in Jacob's hut appearing through the window. Moving along at a better pace too.

I picked up a great WMV HD encode, only became available yesterday evening though. Bit odd watching Lost in HD after a couple of years of getting used to the gritty .avi, but it was so good that it's worth waiting that bit longer to download.

I'd get HD but I can't fucking play them on my HD telly. The Xbox doesn't play the HD files that the TV torrent people encode them into, only the 350mb AVIs. Fuckit, they look fine anyway.
Gotta download it. I want it in HD!
I think Lost moving to a Thursday night US time is going to work out nicely for watching it late on a Fri night or on a Sat morning with a hangover

Having just "acquired" this episode and watched it, I was under the impression that they look more surprised because they recognized the guy, not because he knew who Jack was. Lets face it, Jack's been talking to them on the phone, it would probably be the first thing I asked if I parachuted onto the island looking for them. "you Jack?"
Also liked the lack of flash back. flash forward ftw!
Me and the missus cried buckets when we realised Charlie really was dead. *Sigh* -

Registered 20 years agoFinally got round to watching it last night. Really enjoyed it, a few hints of answers to come and a bunch of new questions to ponder and drag out. I also found it a quite moving episode, something Lost can do really rather well, aided greatly by those simple piano notes.
OK, who wants to reckon the person in the coffin at the end of Season 3 at the funeral Jack goes to is Charlie? -

How is that a spoiler given that we saw Charlie drowning at the end of Season 3? And why do people still insist on posting spoilers with no hint whatsoever of what they contain?

Anyway, yeah, I guess it could be... -

Registered 16 years agoI can't remember what I thought hinted at it but I'm guessing it's probably Hurley in the coffin. Might explain Jack's change of heart about going back to the island. -

Registered 20 years agoUnless Hurly caught full-blown AIDS and became a serious smack addict at the same time there's no way that's his lardy corpse in any coffin we've seen so far
-
Hmm, would AIDS that slims him down to human proportions be good AIDS or bad AIDS, in his case?

Registered 16 years agoI read something on the internet somewhere (some lost fan site but can't remember which one0 that the person in the coffin is a character we haven't met yet. Someone has apparently managed to freeze-frame the image of the newspaper article Jack reads to learn of the funeral and the name was not that of any of the current characters in the program. If I could remember the name I'd say -

Registered 16 years agoif it was a name you don't recognise you should know that when micheal comes back in episode 7/8 he has a different name back in the real world
Also did everyone see Jack's dad sitting in jacob's shed?
This isn't really a spoiler but i was watching the series 3 episode 'tricia tanaka is dead' and the car hurley was woring on with his dad was the one he was driving in the chase at the start of 4x01.
The car is also called a Hurley, which is where his nickname comes from i'd guess! -

Mmmmm. this website seemed fair sure it was a new charcter, not one we've seen before with another name. But anyway!
Didn't notice it was Jack's Dad sitting in Jacob's hut. Will have to check that again! -
