This is still making me angry. If they'd put in a Wii Balance board level Nintendo would be all over it. Fuck this shit. Stop actively cock-blocking good third party games, Nintendo, FUCK.
The most amusing thing is that it's not even really a third-party game - Nintendo funded it themselves, so it's sort of second-party. They're refusing to publish their own game... sort of.

Tales of Symphonia did as well as could be expected, considering the platform it was on. It did well in the States and even got a Player's Choice release. It's doubtful Nintendo lost money on it.

It sold far better than any of the RPGs for the HD consoles so far. Add on the numbers for the later PS2 version and it totally crushes games like Star Ocean 4 and Vesperia.

Yeah, that's true, I'm not sure if that makes it worse, but it's definitely sad. Still hoping that in true Nintendo style, they deny it and then announce it a day later.

I might not bother buy another one of their consoles to be honest. I don't have a problem with the machine itself since I knew all about it's limitations etc. when I bought it and there's some brilliant (mostly third party) software on there.

Nintendo haven't known how to treat their customers properly for a long time and these publishing blunders seal the deal for me.

I heard somewhere (unfounded rumoursville) that Nintendo used to/do fix the prices of second hand games, somehow.

Hmm...I always thought GC games were only expensive second-hand due to smaller amounts available (more true towards the end of the console's life) and the fact that they remained so expensive (£40 and above) until the end of the GC's software output.

Anyone for "Zero: A Japanese Ghost Story"? Soon to be available from Gamestop Italy! It's also on the store's database, as a May 30th release...

That would seem to point to a European release that NoE is being coy about. The Tecmo rep quoted elsewhere was based in the States. Could be we're still getting it.

After all the drama if the game isn't that good, it won't be a pretty scene...

"One time envisaged for a May release, the localization of the game has been cancelled and the game will stay as an Japanese exclusive game". - Nintendo official statement

both the article linked and gamestop italy's website seem to be fucked as of right now, but did they have a publisher listed? i mean i'd like to believe this is true, but it might well turn out to be some phoenix games/data design bollocks with a coincidentally similar name or something.

They really are being idiots about this one. I'd be ten times more interested in this than yet another Mario/Zelda...

Who's developing The Calling and Feel/that-Ju-On-game?

Because if they're Japanese, our chances of getting them just dipped sharply too.

And yet we will get those lazy ports of RE1 and RE0 which not many people are actually interested in...

Rising Star will publish it, right? Or am I thinking about the wrong game?

Perhaps we'll be lucky and they'll just put the release back a year.

I think you're correct on that one; they may also be doing Fragile.

Is this game that big a loss given we're also getting Silent Hill? If Nintendo is going to be the publisher I could see them not wanting to put out a horror title at the same time as the rest of these.

    Yes.

In general, if you were going to list the three big, most accomplished horror series, I think most people would agree that it would come down to Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Zero (over Clock Tower, Siren, Alone in the Dark and so on).

But Project Zero's ready now isn't it? Cursed Mountain, The Calling, Feel, Silent Hill etc aren't out for months. PJ4 could have been out by now. Nintendo could take advantage of the recent horror publicity and pre-empt these releases with one of their own.

It remains to be seen just how good the new SH will be though. Recent SH games haven't been up to much and Shattered Dreams is also getting the PS2 treatment too don't forget - we all know what could happen there.

PZ4 is a proper Wii exclusive, designed specifically for the machine and it looks great. I'd rather have it than SH any day.

It looks like there's a fan translation underway which will need the original Japanese version of the game, the Homebrew Channel, SD Card, etc... Hopefully finished before the end of august.

Very ambitious. I remember a lot of the fan translations for SNES games for example that were never finished because they ran into technical difficulties. Hopefully this will make it!

If anyone's interested the patch is very nearly ready. Now would be the right time to order it from Japan.
