Didn't find it hard at all, what with being the best Mario Galaxy player on Earth!
Did you enjoy it? -

I would like to see Nintendo's take on the open world / sandbox game. Instead of numerous discrete galaxies, lets have one large seamless world to explore. We can still have the themed environments and one off experiences but they exist as part of the same world. I can imagine seeing a volcano in the distance and being able to travel there and find stars scattered around it, only collectable by doing some cool acrobatics and boss murdering as usual. Fast travel could be done by using a pipe network and Yoshi could be the Epona equivalent for speeding from area to area.
I really like this idea, it could have toads/characters dotted around offering you stars for specific challenges (ala galaxy) for that one more try factor - as well as the hidden stars dotted around. Otherwise, adventuring on a dizzying scale and discovering Mario 3 esque Ice areas and huge Yoshi's island like underground crystal caves would be a dream come true. I'm thinking of Jak and Daxtar 1 in the way that you just wander into an area and that's it, you're there.
Also, bring back raccoon tail and add some various Hammer bro suits! -

Registered 15 years ago24 stars in now and I'm absolutely loving it. Just got the bee suit for the first time and really enjoyed that star. Gotta love the music on that galaxy too .gif)
The whole game is crammed with so many more ideas than the first game. Just keeps surprising me. More of this please Nintendo, you lazy bastards. -

The pure sense of nostalgia brought a tear to ones eye :')
God i miss the old days.
Makes you realise how easy the games have gotten as that is in the final tier and it has far wider platforms than before. -

I have one more star left to get.
If any of you ever get this far, good luck, since this is by far the hardest star in any Mario game. I have to do it.. but I know I'm in for the long haul whenever I tackle this one.
Is it the Boss Blitz speed run by any chance? I've got one more left to get and it's this one which is the most frustrating thing I've ever come across in a Mario game because that Bouldergust cunt's window of attack is too random and longwinded for a speedrun and he's not even the last one! -
Arghhhhhhhh!!! Twisty Trials on double speed is infuriating!! Hated it the first time i played it back on the GC.

But you get Yoshi, which makes it a bit of a joke.
Haven't made it that far

Registered 12 years agoSo, is the game a radical advancement in terms of ideas or more of a gentle but satisfying step forward? -
I wouldn't call it a step forward, not even a gentle one. It's basically more of the first one, but that's fine. -

Registered 16 years agoBetter than the first by a fair bit I'd say. The inventiveness and creativity of some of the galaxies is mind blowing. Not to mention it's one of the few games that gives you a nostalgic feeling with brand new experiences, utter classic in my books. -

Registered 13 years agoThe first was a bit like having mind blowing rumpy pumpy with your gorgeous, sexy wife. The sequel is like having mind blowing rumpy pumpy with your gorgeous, sexy wife and her clone - both are amazing but this one has more ideas, more fun and more of everything.
Exhibit A: first star in the Boo Moon Galaxy: not difficult by any means but stupidly good fun. -

Registered 13 years ago120 Stars! \o/
Finally managed that Boss Blitz Speed Run after getting very lucky with the bomb ghost spawns on Buldergust and had well over a minute left to kill the firey Petey Pirahna.
Now for the second half of the game... -

Registered 13 years agoDo the green stars get any more interesting on later galaxies? Finding them in World One galaxies hasn't been particularly interesting so far. -
Do the green stars only begin when you have 120 stars? I finished last night with 75 stars and am wondering if it's worthwhile soldering on when my gaming backlog is higher than the Tower of Babel.
