Updated news says that the update DOESN'T kill it.

Freeloader doesn't work with Japanese Mario Kart

Not, of course, that it matters to any Europeans, but it's a sign that they've already started blocking the Freeloader on new games.

That's more or less coincidence. If they really block the freeloader then the freeloader wouldn't even run anymore - I think it's just one of those games that simply don't work with the freeloader, after all it's not the first one.

I also think that PAL games will be the ones that will break the freeloader eventually as I highly doubt Nintendo will put PAL firmware on NTSC discs to screw with us.

I just got my copy of SSBB and everything runs smoothly with the freeloader.

Though the online feature is corrupted to everyone it seems. When you want to randomly find players to challenge in Wi-Fi it won't establish a connection to the other players "because of the high traffic" according to Nintendo.

Appearently some clever guys wrote some code that you can run via the Twilight Hack that enables region free gaming. The good thing about this is that Nintendo will probably never be able to fix the Twilight Hack which means that there will always be the possibilty to run homebrew code - while the freeloader can be blocked easily with a firmware upgrade this method will probably exist for forever. No idea about compatibility but I'm sure that those people will get games to run much faster than Datel ever will (if only because they can offer the patches via download and don't have to manufactor a new disc like Datel).

    Fixed link

Edit: I've read that SSBB doesn't work with it at the moment.

Thanks, I forgot that editing kills links.

Edit: Hm, I guess it doesn't. Must have forgotten to use the a tags :/

Does the freeloader and SSB:B still work after the current update?
I’ve got some points to spend on River city ransom but I have to update the Wii shop channel.

Just got freeloader. Now, I have not got my imported games yet, im waiting for the to be delivered.

But rather than getting the funny multicoloured bars that go across the screen twice, a massive Freeloader logo fills my screen, if I put the disc in again, I get the same logo with Upragade on.

Is this going to work when I get my games?

Don't know, but sounds like this may be a new version that's covered up the bars?

    Thats what I was thinking...

It would make sense, because running the original once, is for playing normal games, and running it twice bypasses game updates. Sounds like you will be fine.

I'm just about to buy Baten Kaitos Origins, which is a NTSC game. What's the state of play with Freeloaders at the moment? Will this work on my UK Wii with a Freeloader or does it depend entirely on what freeloader I have?

Never used one before, so I know nothing about them.

I've only ever played Wii games with the Wii Freeloader, so far they have all worked fine. I believe it does have a problems with some NTSC Cube games though.

According to this list Baten Kaitos Origins (US) works on a PAL Wii using the Freeloader.

The first Baten Kaitos game also works fine, sadly Tales of Symphonia does not...

Yeah I can remember that you posted about one game but I wasn't sure if it was ToS or Baten Kaitos.

I don't suppose for one minute that a Cube Freeloader works on anything via the Wii does it?

So, the "Twilight Hack" thingy... I can now use that to run a program to play imported games? And the Freeloader will be out of commission fairly soon, and possibly for ever?

No probs, I figure I'll order a Freeloader for now, anyway. I'll probably just buy a replacement Japanese Wii later in the summer if there are no easy alternatives.

My US version of No More Heroes worked with my UK Wii using the region free app installed as part of the Homebrew Channel... dont know how successful it is with running other imported games though.

    EDIT: Typos

Hmm, cheers, it seems like there should be some pretty decent alternatives once the Freeloader is prevented from working, at least.
