| Which, it has to be said again, Nintendo could do with the press of a button. The fix for the exploit the Freeloader uses has been distributed to online Wii consoles very shortly after Freeloader was released. They just did not activate it. |

Registered 18 years agoYeah, I know. They'll probably do it next week now that I've ordered one. -

Registered 18 years agoWell hot damn - this works!
Any ideas if moving a foreign save over from a foreign machine to my PAL one would work? I'd quite like to finish the last section and a bit of Super Paper Mario without playing through it all again first, as well as get all my Kororinpa unlocks back. -

Registered 13 years agoSo the freeloader seems to be working fine but when playing Brawl it is just black and white. Would it be right to get a RGB cable for it to be in color? -

Registered 16 years agoSadly, no. Avoid RGB at all costs with the Freeloader, it just doesn't work. Everything is in a red tint.
Your in the same boat as me, and I haven't found a solution yet mate, sorry. I tried ordering an S-Video cable (the American RGB), but it was still B&W. THe only cable that will sort it is either Component or a third party VGA cable, as they don't distinguish between NTSC and PAL, they're standard. But these cables depend on you having the proper connections to put them through.
I bought a third party VGA cable off ebay, which worked a treat, but my monitor has just went on the blink so i'm stuck again.
The other option is Homebrew - a program called 'Gecko Region Free' has been released recently, which does the same job as the Freeloader. The guy behind recently updated it to include an option to force PAL-60hz, which should solve the colour problem. Sadly the release was full of bugs and doesn't work with Brawl. v1.4 worked fine, but with no option to fix the colour, but the most current, v1.5 doesn't even load the game. The releaser will be fixing this though, i'm sure. Have a look on the Gecko Region Free forum -

This isn't exactly the case. It all depends on your TV. If your TV can handle an NTSC signal, RGB will work fine with Freeloader.
Edit - And of course if you have a TV that can take component, then that is the way to go. -

Not for me it doesn't. The TV needs to support S-video.
ok, the point is though, it just depends on the TV. Was just trying to point out that RGB will work fine on the right TV. My old Phillips CRT can can handle NTSC games, including Wii games, fine.
Edit - Didn't work with my other CRT in the games room though, so was forced to buy a lovely new LCD and the component cable, which is infinitely better

Registered 14 years agoWell, apparently the newest Wii System update blocks the Freeloader. Ouch. -

I've got a Wii Freeloader sitting in a box at home that I haven't used since 2008. I've just had a look on ebay to see what they are worth now and it seems there is still a small market for them. Why would anyone buy the Wii one considering there was a system update that broke it a few months after it came out? Wouldn't it effectively just be a tea coaster?
