Just had a call, my aunt has been moved to a hospice and my mother is driving to see her.

Multiple infections and she's in a serious way with not long left. Sorry it is not a happy update. She was fine just before Christmas as well. Looks like she'll be lucky if she makes the 7 weeks lower estimate they gave her.

I hate this thread. I wish I could unfollow it.

For all the right reasons of course.

I don't like commenting/bumping this thread for the obvious reasons but it turns out my brother in law got taken to hospital yesterday after taking chemotherapy for liver cancer which caused extreme abdominal pains. Just been told that he's now in palliative care as it's completely spread in his body.

One of the worst things here is my sister suffers from various serious mental health issues and this has understandably tipped her over the edge. There's only me and my 2 sisters left now and me and my other sister are worried to fuck about our suffering sister.

This is making me feel exactly like I did when I had to go and visit my dad for the last time in hospital.

Absolutely FUCK YOU CANCER YOU CUNT

@quadfather Sorry to hear that - a double whammy :-( Is your sister receiving any care/support?

    @TechnoHippy

Yes she has support but tbh she's suffered all her life with mental health and nothing has ever really changed. To be brutally honest, we're worried she's going to take the self harm to another level. She's been with this guy for most of her life.

I don't know, my head is obviously all over the shop at the moment. I need to speak to them both and see what we need to do first

@quadfather Fucking hell man. I remember you saying before about your sisters mental health issues. This is terrible news for someone with these issues to process. It sounds like she's fortunate in that she has you both to care about her during this traumatic time and I suppose knowing that she has you both there to listen to her when she needs you will be the main thing over the coming months. Awful for your Brother in Law. Fucking cancer.

Sorry to hear that, hope your sis gets the support she needs. Cancer is a massive fucking bastard.

I found out today that my cousin’s cancer which 2 months ago was gone ( but with high probability of returning ) has spread to her ribs, liver and stomach and there is nothing that can be done. She’ll only have a few months.
She’s only 45 and the kindest, loveliest person you can meet, extremely giving to all her family, friends and pupils (she’s a Physics teacher), it’s just so fucking wrong.
Hopefully will get back to see her in the next week or two, it’s horrible knowing that there’s nothing you can do and being so clueless what to say.

@Armoured_Bear missed this earlier. Really sorry man. That's fucking horrible. I don't know if ever there is a right thing to say. As i said earlier, just knowing you're there and giving support is enough.

Thanks a lot guys, on the phone I felt like a dick as, at the end I said " I don't know what to say apart from that I love you, will do anything to spurt you and will be back to visit you soon".
I had no clue what to say beyond that, when I see her, I imagine that she'll be sick of talking about the disease and just try and have as "normal" a time as possible but I obviously don't know what I'm doing.

Well, he's gone. Went this morning at 8am. Only my sister was present. Least he went peacefully.

It's a bit of a relief as he was in constant agonising pain even with morphine. He had to be drugged up to the eyeballs for it to make a dent in the end.

Now we need to support our sister as she's understandably the one with suffering now.
