been away from here so long, i think it's because I've hardly gamed all year wanted to drop back in, though, as many of you have been so kind and supportive to me & my daughter over the last few years, so it felt right Heather (mrs hcnip) passed away early yesterday morning in Clatterbridge hospital, Liverpool after a three and a half year battle with cancer. She deteriorated very quickly over the last 48 hours but died calmly and peacefully in her sleep. Her poor body had just had enough of coping with it all -all the medications, treatments, investigations etc etc, especially in the last 6 months. In the end, it happened very quickly and almost unexpectedly as the doctors were still planning the next lines of treatment but, to be honest, I'm grateful for the speed of it for her sake. Meg, our daughter, & I were both lucky to have been with her Thursday evening when she was still communicating and Meg was able to tell her she loved her & to say goodbye and I'm immensely proud of her for doing so, considering the dark place she was in a few years back. She's an incredible and brilliant young lady that I'm privileged and lucky to have by my side in the times ahead... as i say, i'll catch up with the stories above but, to be brief, i wish each and every one of you dealing with cancer, or supporting a loved one in their fight, the very, very best and send you the manliest man hugs possible tony |

@drhcnip thoughts are with you both. That's something you shouldn't have to deal with until later life. I hope you both get through it all. -

Tony, I was just thinking I have not seen you for ages. I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss mate. Words mean so little at this time (especially from a game playing nerd, albeit we have been "virtual friends" on here for years and years) but I am devastated for you, your daughter and wider family.

Registered 20 years ago@drhcnip so sorry to hear the news and hope you and your daughter stay strong for each other.
I know families are all different, but I hope you find the strength and courage to be open with each other and talk things over when needed. It took me the best part of 20 years until I found it comfortable to talk of my mum (lost her to cancer back in the early 80s when I was 11) and I wish we’d been more open - to be able to remember and laugh about the good times.
Thoughts are with you. -

Registered 12 years agothanks again, everyone - luckily, we've always been very open in this house and can talk about things like this...does help when your wife is a bereavement and suicide therapist...
meg, despite her struggles a few years back, when this community was so kind to her in her lego hunt, has recovered an awful lot and is strong enough to be a constant rock for me...together we will get through this but on our own terms and in our own time...x -
