I just checked Foo's blog and there is a new entry from his wife. It details the final days of his life and the impact the illness and treatment was having on him. It's one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever read. |

Registered 16 years agoNo links (that'll be poor taste IMO), but I'll be dedicating my Movember 2011 charity to Allie.
This one's for you, Allie. RIP mate. -

Just read it myself. Very moving, I was rather misty-eyed by the end.

Registered 15 years agoHow can life be so insanely messed up is beyond my comprehension. The things people struggle with are just so atrocious, it makes me wonder how the world can be as cruel as it is.
Foo was awesome. RIP.

Registered 14 years agoJust read Foo's wife's last entry in his blog
I would have been immensely proud to have known him and everything that he represented, for Susan his wife to then finish what he started in such a dignified and moving way put me in genuine tears by the end.
We all can learn a lesson from Foo and from his life, when the chips are down, stay strong and remember that illnesses can and will ravage your body but will not change the person that you are. We learn even more from his wife Susan that love endures all, i am sure Foo would be massively proud of her.
Learning of his death today, reading his "hospital musings' and then his wife's final entry has massively effected me today. I cannot begin to imagine what his family must be going through. I, like many others at this stage can do nothing more than offer my condolences. I will await the possiblity of his blog being printed in the hope that i can donate in his memory.
RIP Foo, I remember reading a while ago that you may have actually been a big fan of the Foo Fighters. I see this a fitting song for you dude.

Registered 13 years agoThat doesn't necessarily mean anything, but back when I first joined EG and was being a dick, Foo pulled me on it and it turned out we liked some of the same music.. He linked me to this video, so just thought I'd repost. -

Hardly any of us met Foo, even though a fair few of us lived in the same city as he did. We've all lost a fellow traveler. Please let his other loved ones know there's another group of people who are feeling his loss and will remember him.
Santino: I think it's fair to say that, given other things that have happened in the past on EG and how the forumites have reacted, that something like that would be VERY welcome here. -

Registered 15 years agoVery sad indeed. I didn't know Foo personally, just as a well-known name on here but its horrible to lose anyone so young, to such an awful disease. Especially someone who had obviously put up such a fight.
Please pass my condolences on to his family and friends. -

There's nothing further I can add that countless others haven't eloquently said already.
RIP Foo. If only real life was as easy as sticking in another credit.

Only just found out about this tonight. Sad news. Rest in Peace Foo. Didn't know you all too well, but we shared a fair bit banter in the F1 thread. You got to see Silverstone this year though! -
