The euro is gaining (?) on the pound though. Last year 60 euro was around £40, now it's almost £46. |

I dont deal in credit. Cash only. Thus no credit card.
Well then stop bitching about the price of games when there's an easy solution you've just chosen to ignore. I agree retail price here in Ireland are woeful though.
Irony on a base level.
What part of "I dont deal in credit" do you have difficulty understanding?
There's absolutely no reason why games should be THAT much more expensive AT ALL.
Now kindly fuck off and stick your cock in a pencil sharpener.
Haha, there are several good reasons as to why games cost more in retail and you're just plain stupid if you don't see that. You're also stupid to only deal in cash imo. Where do you put your savings, under the mattress or hidden in the piano?
They are more expensive in retail HERE than OVER THERE you moron. Thats the point Im making. Seems like you have trouble reading.
I put my savings in a bank. Your opinion counts for dick about how I choose to pay for anything counts for diddlysquat.
Ah, I forgot that my opinion doesn't count here. Just for arguments sake though, the point you originally made was that retail games here cost more than the prices you see EGers link to. Surely they're linking to online deals and not highstreet retail prices? I was under the impression that retail prices here and there were roughly equivalent, ie a ripoff.
You have credit with your bank when you deposit then? I obviously do have trouble understanding - I thought you only deal with cash and not credit. -

Registered 15 years agoPrecisely, I put cash into the bank. I do not however use credit cards to pay for things.
Does this make it any clearer for you? -

How come you don't like credit cards? Or a debit card even, (which is what I have)? You'd save money surely? -

I would use a debit card but as far as Im aware no online retailers accept Laser cards which is the only type available here that I know of.
I wouldnt trust myself with a credit card tbh. -

Registered 17 years agoCan't see why anyone would be complaining of prices these days...importing has never been easier (or cheaper) with places like Play-asia and Movietyme. Whilst great deals can be had from the usual online game retailers and independant retailers on a weekly basis.
Sure bargins in shops are extremely rare now days, especially with Game cornering the market and hiking prices up, but that doesn't effect me much. I'd much rather import or wait and order off the internet and I always pay what I want.
No reason you couldn't do this in Ireland (with ebay especially). God help you if you were a gamer when Snes/N64 days...no internet and £50 for a game. You had to rely on magazines and flea market for cheap swaps. -

Whoa! Guys! Guys! Laser. Cards. LASER CARDS.
I hope they're half as exciting as what I've just mentally pictured.
Do they go 'vvvvvwwowww' like a light sabre as you get them out of your wallet?
Cashier: Cash or card?
Me: Card. Laser card. *vvvvwwwwwooooowwww*
Cashier: *condescending look* Just put it in the chip and pin.
Me: *vvwwwwoww* -

What about getting Paypal? As long as you have a bank account you are fine.
Entropay is another, and again all you need is a bank account.
Seriously cannot understand why the OP can seemingly run a business, but not manage to handle a credit card...guess it is okay if you enjoy paying more.
Why not get a credit card, then as soon as you get it ask the company to reduce to the limit to the lowest it can be (usually 250 or 500)?
I tend to use my cards for most stuff, and then just pay in full when the bill comes, it means I keep my money for longer and get, admittedly small, bits of interest on it.
I could of course manage a credit card but I just dont trust myself. That wasnt really the point of the thread though. I wasnt really looking for solutions...I was pretty much asking why games retail for so much more over here compared to Blighty...
Somehow it degenerated into a "wow you are stupid for not using a credit card LOLZ" thread. -

Registered 19 years agoEverybdy should get a credit card, it's abnormal not to. The only reasonable reason is that say you have a gambling problem, have no self control or something.
It will cost you the basic €40/year for the card tax, and if you buy stuff you can afford it will cost you nothing.
What about airfares? Travel abroad, checking into a hotel (okay, can be done by paying a deposit). Get one, but don't use it unless you pay it off. also gives insurance for loads of purchases. -
What price do new games typically retail for in high street Game shops over there in the UK?
Sometimes posts may contain links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. For more information, go here.
