Got myself some gloves and a head guard. Been doing 100 press-ups every other day, and kettle bell drills every other day too. Just started running - aiming for 3 miles a week to begin with, gradually going up to 15k.

Should get me in a good state by the end of March...
Running 15k will be useless for boxing, it will probably do more harm than good.

You want to be doing 5k max and within those 5k doing interval sprints. This mimics what actually happens in a boxing fight.

Skipping is great too and don't forgot a mouth guard. Took me about a month to get used to one without feeling the need to choke!

    I meant 3x 5k a week.

Forgot about skipping! I'll get a rope.

Got a mouth guard, not looking forward to having to wear the thing...

Clever of them to have two fights on at the same time too.

Two great fights tonight on PPV. Frampton vs Warrington was a war, and Chisora Whyte ended with a bang. Shame Hearn and Warren were dumb and decided to compete with each other on the same night.

Stayed up late watching Sugar Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson fights.

Tyson was a ludicrous fighter. He's like the (real) Ronaldo of boxing; he had everything. Shame he wound up boxing so many bums in what turned out to be the prime of his career.

Whyte's for a REALLY nasty left look on him. I didn't see the fight but I'm guessing that came into play. I feel like he'll give AJ a good run for his money if they go for the rematch.

Oof. It's really short and fast, you just wouldn't see it coming.

Mayweather vs Nasukawa has just concluded. All I can say is that it went the way you'd expect a contest between a 20 year old kickboxer attempting to fight a legend who outweighed him by around 30 lbs to go.

An utter farce, even Mayweather-McGregor was a more entertaining fight.

Well that was weird. I can't work out the scam, but tax/betting related? Cos that first round finish looks staged as fuck.

Did a bit of very basic sparring last night. My footwork is absolutely shite, but my jab and parry isn't too bad for someone that's been drinking a bottle of wine a day for about 3 weeks.

I hate to be that guy, but this thread is for discussing professional sports boxing matches. There is a fitness thread and also a martial arts thread for training tips and other support.

Top tip, practice hitting a bag just keep throwing punches for two or three minutes - whatever your round times are.

First fight your adrenaline will be through the roof and youíll have no energy when you get in the ring. Seen loads of lads lose fights when their legs were good and thy werenít out of breath but their arms were so tired and they couldnít keep throwing.

I always used to smash the bags in a build up to a fight so I could keep throwing. Won a lot of my fights because despite a lack of quality on both sides I was the aggressor and if referees are unsure that will often get you a win.

Plus at the lower levels people arenít good at dealing with pressure because opponents donít have a counterpunching game and are used to measured sparring. Often spoils their work so itís win/win if you can keep swinging.

Cheers lads. So far it's strength and conditioning I'm doing off my own back but I'll keep you posted when we start getting into it. I'm ready just using this event as a springboard so I'll be signing up to a gym when January's paycheck lands.

Sadly I've got nowhere to put a heavy bag at home, so I've been trying to shadow box but I feel like a right tit doing it.
