Playing a combat bastard, killing left right and centre.
Trouble is, it is on hard. Marburg kills me in 4 seconds.

Registered 11 years agoHow do i avoid the grenades in this game? No roll or dodge button?
Edit: Nevermind, I just run away.
How do the shooting mechanics work in here though? Even when the centre dot is placed on the enemy, I still somehow miss.
And does the game get better in terms of gameplay and story as you go through? Done about 2 missions so far

It is an RPG. You miss because your guy isn't skilled up enough.
To avoid nades, run.
Yes, it does. But the combat will only improve if you skill it and if you accept it for what it is.
Time to crack at Marburg again... -

Registered 16 years agoas you level up your skills with certain run types you get much better with them, that said the shooting mechanics are always a bit suspect. However if your playing alpha protocol for the combat your playing it wrong.
Also don't forget if your stuck on a bit you can switch countries and come back later. -
Hey guys. Just picked this up.
Any advice for leveling up as i go along. -

Registered 17 years agoPistol chain shot is going to be the most valuable skill. It will really help with the boss fight difficulty spikes. I would certainly recommend concentrating on that skill for the first play through.
In fact I would always say concentrate all you skills into just one weapon type for each play through. Sspreading skill points across multiple weapons just means nothing is particularly good.
There is also a skill that allows instant cool down of all abilities which is also well worth getting. I forget what its called though now and what skill tree it comes under. If I remember right you should be able to go through the skill tree's to find it though and work out which path you need to put points into to unlock it.

@glaeken Thanks man.
Much appreciated. -
Yeah, a focus on one weapon is better. I have made my hard recruit play harder by spreading points. Damn achievements.
Pistol is the best, but shotgun is quite handy too.
I gave up on. Marburg and went to Taipei. Love the game, started a second play instantly. -

Registered 17 years agoActually talking of locations I was forgetting you could leave Moscow until last. Do the other locations first and that way you can be at a high level for Moscow. That will help as Moscow has the biggest difficulty spikes. -

Yeah, Saudi is easily the worst part. -

I'm just about to start the last mission in Saudi. Certainly not the best looking game but has its charms.
Agree that the conversation tree is far better than Mass Effects. The RPG shooting was very annoying at the start having just played Max Payne.
However its good. I can see myself sticking with it. Also started off as a Recruit just to make it a little more difficult for myself I guess. -

Registered 13 years agoThis is one of my favourite games, I think once you get out of Saudi, you'll start to appreciate it more.
Definitely up pistol, latterly it almsot makes boss fights too easy, but it does let you feel like an uber-spy.
I should really buy this again, since I wanted to play through it again to check out all the differences I could make on a second run and see how that played out, but just didn't feel I had the time.
That'd almost make sense if I actually had the time now! -

You should buy again, if you ever get time! I played 3 times back-to-back (360, no bugs) and got three diff endings, and by that I don't just mean an extra cut scene... -

Registered 13 years agoI actually started a second run for that very reason, but then some new releases came out and ...
..you know the routine.

Just finished Saudi.
Really turns into a different game once you manage to level up a little. I've gone with a spy build only pumped into the stealth, pistol and toughness perks.
Heh flirting on the plane. NOICE -
Scarlett is fit.
I wish they could get a sequel. Obsidian + a Mass Effect budget and timeframe would be nice. -
