T'was one of my favourite games last gen.

In all seriousness too. Broken, but brilliant.

I'd probably agree, actually. I played it through several times. Enjoyed every one.

Pistol/stealth was brokenly powerful, but so much fun.

It was thanks to Duff I played this game and I'm glad he recommended it to me. Loved it, bugs and all.

What other game allowed you to give your character a huge bushy beard? Great game.

Darkest part of the whole game. So wrong.

Alpha Protocol was a massive sufferer of Review Lies. eg. loads of reviews, especially video reviews, loved to show off how "bad" the pistols were, which is basically a big red flag saying "I didn't do the tutorial and expected this game to be Gears of War".

Sure, it had hell of rough edges, but I have this suspicion that most people who reviewed it badly when it came out were just too thick to play it properly.

Haha maybe, or they didn't have time to get used to it, the weapons WERE a bit weird. I think it was after the middle-east mission where everything 'clicked' for me and I really started to enjoy it. Until the insane cocaine-snorting guy, fuck him.

SIE was great! I've got a fondness for women like that : D

Reviewers reviewed it as a game and as a game it's riddled with faults, glitches and daft design decisions that can totally break the game such as it being possible to be completely invisible to everything, indefinitely which I ended up doing on my playthrough. I can't fault reviewers for marking down the games gameplay for that as that part of the game is at best serviceable and average, at worse it's broken and glitchy.

With that said that's not really why people should play the game because the reason to play it is the story, which there is no real right or wrong, good or bad, black or white decisions. There are only choices, which predominately play around in the morally grey areas of decision making and it's something that other games need to start doing more.

Gaming needs to grow up a bit in this regard and they need to start with ditching this good vs evil mentality that games seems to be fixated on, the real world isn't like that for the most part it's a series of choices that are almost never completely bad or good, they are just a choice and generally it's only later the consequences of that choice become apparent.

I do love alpha protocol, but I don't love it for it's gameplay and it's a shame we've not had a spy game since that dabbles in the morally grey areas that world inevitably creates.

Brayko can go die a slow and painful death. Never have I clicked the "Execute" button faster than on this guy.

EDIT: I just realised I contradicted myself. See what this asshole does to me?

I enjoyed this but didn't finish it. I had some great ideas (and some bad ones) but it was goofy fun.

Use the skill that lets you fire a full pistol magazine into someone's head instantly, the skill that resets your cooldown, and then the pistol spam skill again.

Any boss in the game, including Brayko, basically dead 10-15 seconds.

But remember, all the video reviews told you pistols are "useless" not "game breakingly overpowered".

    @GloatingSwine

The pistols were so good I remember taking out a helicopter using just the pistol very quickly. Great game riddled with bugs and some other issues but still great
