    @quadfather

    Thereís no denying that the jank is pretty serious at some of the wrong points, but the atmosphere and dread is on a different level to anything Iíve played before. Itís obviously been made with PT in mind.

    Enjoy!

    Horrible isnít it? Iíve gotten as far as the appearance of the first ghost but canít bring myself to go any further. Started Soma instead.

    Visageís main problem asides the jank is how obtuse it is. If it was just as terrifying but also clear what to do then Iíd stick with it longer. As it is, the utter terror is mixed a bit with aimless wandering unless you have a guide.

    Cool. You wuss.

    I can see myself buying this late at night pissed up, thinking it'd be awesome and then consequently shitting my pants and turning it off.

    Worth a try though :)

    @quadfather well I have the house to myself so I'm watching horror films, that I can't cope with, then I'm going to play it again.

    Why do I do this to myself?

    @Trent_Steel Soma is one of the best games I've ever played. It's very good indeed.

    As to this, its bloody puzzly isn't it. Properly obscure at times. Think I'm not far off finishing chapter 1. It's ticking all the right boxes so far that's for sure.

    Chapter 1 done. Really fucking obtuse but also weirdly logical at times. Creepy old naked lady was creeping me out. At one point I happened to turn round and she was right behind me just peering round a doorway. Piss off you spooky bastard.

    The puzzles have been really hard but the general gameplay is fine. Only died once so far and barely used any candles or bulbs are pills.

    So much cool stuff happened during that chapter though. Can't wait to see what's next.

    Hmmm, this reminds me that I really should have played SOMA by now, especially as I recently realised I've had it in my library for ages as it was a Plus title! It looks a very Lovecraftian just from the game tile, some tentacle faced creature, and that shit is right up my street. I've just started Control Ultimate Editon though and this seems pretty excellent so far.

    Damn, this statement too... Right, I might as well play SOMA after Control now by the looks of it, I feel like playing some horror/creepy stuff. I'm also eyeing up either Demon's or Returnal for a purchase soon, can't decide which yet!

    Honestly, put everything down and put soma on immediately. You'll understand.

    @wuntyate

    Think you did a different chapter from me to start. Was it Dolores?

    I found Lucyís horrifying, however going to it second might soften some of the edges.

    The obtuse puzzles and controls donít really do it for me but the atmosphere is second to none. I kind of wish it was more of a walking sim with some chase sequences but I get what they were going for.

    @Trent_Steel yeah Dolores. Didn't realise you could do them out of sequence!

    I've started Lucy's now... Ah. Oh dear.

    Also I am actually a fan of the puzzles etc. I'd rather it was like this than too linear and on rails like Layers of Fear, although I do like LoF as well, and some parts of this do remind me of it, like how they fuck about with the physical space (and when it goes full on Escher at times).

    It's fucking bleak though. Love it. Although I'm not looking forward to essentially playing through Ringu in video game form next. I'm getting FEAR flashbacks as well.

    I'm definitely going to play SOMA next, but I'm loving Control at the moment, it's properly surreal, weird and kinda creepy in places. The 'force' powers and the level of destruction in the environments are awesome. I've just collected a big red phone that can call other dimensions apparently, that'll do 😁!

    @Rodderz I loved Control and it's weirdness, one of my highlights of recent years easily. The atmosphere is second to none.

    @wuntyate

    Yeah it's brilliant so far! All those floating people everywhere and muffled talking/shouting all around is really unsettling. In the process of getting the red phone I got creeped out by that bit where you pull the light cord and then you're in an empty motel. I thought it looked quite cosy and went and rang the service bell on the front desk, and nothing...

    Walked around a bit more to see if I could open any of the motel rooms and then felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Still nothing happened, but the atmosphere had really started to get to me in that place. The setting looked normal, nice even, but it also felt increasingly unnatural and like something nasty could happen. Excellent atmosphere!

    Fatal Frame 5 is being remastered for various platforms.

    I wanted the series back, but this... was it another monkey's paw? We really need to stop using those.

    Wish they'd just do the fucking lot cross platform and be done with it. Currently, you need a ps2 and a home-brewed Wii to do them. It's daft

    I enjoyed 5...

    But yeah, re-releases of the whole series would be nice. Especially as the 'enhanced' versions of 1 and 2 on Xbox are less accessible (I seem to recall some semblance lf backwards compatibility but recall there being issues too). I am not sure hlw the PS3 PS2 Classics versions run. Thankfully I have them all on Xbox/PS2.

    Fatal Frame 5 is the Wii U one right?

    I've really lost track since the series has been locked up doing hard time in Nintendo jail, I did buy the Wii one but never played it due to it being such a pain setting things up for the fan created English patch on a Wii, a system with incredibly limited storage and file management options.

    Basically you're stuck buying anything they put out, irrespective of quality anyway because it's KOEI TECMO and they release really low print runs on their games and never reprint. We're in a situation where games as recent as PS4 releases have pushed past the three figure mark if you can find them at all. Pay up now or pay even more to a scalper in a couple of years. Pay now makes more sense if you have the faintest shred of interest.

    @Cappy

    The maiden one is number 5 on the Wii u yeah, but I'm sure number 4 came out on the Wii too. I've got it somewhere, but I can't remember the name off the top of my head
