I like Guinness but Murphy's is far better. A pity that fewer places do it.

    Good point.

I find it difficult to drink lager now that I've been drinking ales for a couple of years. Lager just tastes so chemically.

    Can't beat a good ale.

    / dons flat cap

/ orders pint of Grouse Beater
I went off a when I moved to London. A bad pint of beer is far worse than a bad pint of lager, so I switched. Now I'm back where they might keep beer properly, I must try and get back on it. Ale gives me wicked headaches though, just not used to all the natural ingredients!

Give me a pint of IPA over that Guinness rubbish anyday.

    +1

IPA is the nuts, Guiness isn't even in the same league.

Guinness is however the most superior drink.

Nah, that's just bollocks. A good ale beats Guiness. Though a good pint o' Guinness _is_ pretty awesome. They can shove that extra cold shit up their arses, though.

There's loads of really awesome ales out there to choose from - Bishop's Finger, Spitfire, London's Pride, Tons of Marston's ones like Pedigree, almost anything that comes out of the Wychwood brewery (I particularly favour Hobgoblin and Circlemaster). I miss my old local, they had Pale Rider (which is AWESOME) on tap. There's loads more ales besides these - with all the choice I'm amazed folks drink lager. 'cept in the height of summer when you're pissed in a field in Germany with litre tankards.

I'm not so sure - I had a bad pint of Staropramen not long ago and that was far worse than any bad ale I've ever had. It was pretty much undrinkable.

Had a pint of Adnams Broadside in Southwold last Summer where it is brewed and it was about the best thing I've ever tasted. Never had a beer that comes close.

Agree with you about the headaches though.

Pint of Tim Taylor Landlord. Stuff of the gods. Along with Evard's Tiger Best. And Pride, cannae beat Pride.

Southwold is lovely, I'd live there if I was rich.

    Bloody stockbrokers.

    Tim Taylor is quality.

And I like most Fuller's stuff - London Pride, Honeydew, Discovery and ESP FTW.

One of my locals does Woodforde's Wherry, which is tasty.

I really like it too, really nice in the Summer. The fact that you can get a great pint of Adnams there makes it even better.

This man speaks wise words. Everard's Tiger is grogeous.

Also Theakston's best is made of greatness. Always IPA for me though, tis perfect.

The best thing about real ales is that during a power cut the hand pumps in my local still work \o/

Never been an IPA fan really. Nor Adnam's Southwold brew. Broadside on the other hand is sublime.

    Other beers of note:

Tanglefoot. Gets you mangled very quickly.
Summer Lightening - lovely and crisp on a warm day
    Abbot's Ale: AKA The Sledgehammer.
