Paedo jokes are not funny to me anymore.. Someone close to me was a victim of it, and the perpetrator is a family member. My family is torn to pieces over it, has been for the last 3 years since it was made known to us. I used to make jokes about it myself.. still try sometimes - but when I do that I immediately feel sick about it.. Same goes for racism. My wife has Pakistani roots. The amount of shit we have to put up with on a daily basis is sickening. To be fair, some people seem to be very nice to us when they realise we're together (I'm a typical northern white male).. So it's all not negative, but a lot of the time it is.. |

Registered 14 years agoThere is not one single joke that could ever offend me. I am totally desensitized to it all. I laugh at everything.
If, however I had a something terrible like paedophilia happen to someone I knew, I don't think I could tell/laugh at those anymore. -

I think if you are only offended at certain things (the things that concern you the most), that in itself is a bit off.
Like someone getting offended at autistic jokes because their kid is autistic, yet would normally happily laugh away at black jokes.
That assumes that everyone should be offended by exactly the same things thereby you're assuming context plays no part in it whatsoever, which we know is inaccurate. Different people find different things funny or offensive for different reasons including their background, experiences etc.
Why are you running with multiple IDs at once (in one thread in some cases) btw? -
