Registered 16 years agoPriming can induce expections of what you should be seeing (judging by reactions to the OP you lot need to take your mind from the gutter), a manifestation of top-down processing.
For example, if I told (primed) you this image was either a) young woman or b) old woman then when you view the image you'd see what you was told. With practise you'll be able to see both the old and the young woman though. -

I worked on a conveyor belt line for a while and had a similar thing. You might also notice it when viewing movie credits which switch from rolling to static text. -

Registered 16 years agoOr when a train stops at a station after you've been staring out of the window for ages. When I was a kid I would swear that the train was still moving even though it wasn't. -

Heh. That is the illusion.
It's a white wall, directly behind the plants in the foreground. What looks like water glistening at the opposite shore is the sun shining on top of the wall. -
